ART GRANT INFORMATION - DEADLINE MAY 14 2010

OPEN CALL FOR ART GRANTS FOR 2010 BIZAARE 11
The goal for 2010 is to have multiple art works (to-be-burned or not), performance art, experiencital-participatory projects and multiple fire shows.  The art grant process is to make it more affordable for creative participants.

Art grants will be up to $500.00.
Installation/performance area must be left without a trace.

WHAT CAN GET  FUNDED:

  • ART materials in the form of visual, audio, performance, participatory, experiential art.

WHAT DOES NOT GET FUNDED:

  • Items that are valuable after the event, example: a generator will not get funded but the fuel to run it might be.

ETHICS

  • Use of recycled, reclaimed, found and/or repurposed materials as much as possible
  • Community involvement, involving others in your project
  • Do not burn toxic materials

LEAVE NO TRACE = …leave NO trace. Have a plan to clean as you go.  To the extent possible, don't let debris touch the ground.  Your project must be cleaned up before you leave the event.  (Campers who stay Sunday evening on must pay Sea Base the per night camping fee directly).

EFFIGIES
The main effigy (that will burn on Saturday night) is commissioned by Element 11.

GOT FIRE?
If your project will involve open flame of any kind, you will need to complete the fire art application along a written fire safety and clean up plan in addition to the grant application.

WHEN YOU WILL GET THE FUNDS:
Those artists who have worked with Element 11 previously will be funded in advance.
Tickets will not be awarded - however you can request 'performer tickets' ($45) or ask to have funds sufficient to cover the cost of your ticket(s) as well as your project costs.
After the event, artists will be expected to complete a small feedback with copies of all receipts and a completed expense form (provided with grant award).

TRANSPORTATION SUPPORT:
In order to cut down the total vehicle-miles involved with getting art out to the festival, we are offering transportation grants.  Transportation can be awarded as part of an art grant.

SET-UP SCHEDULE:
Pre-construction and/or modular construction is encouraged; ideally projects should be able to be completely installed in 2 days or less.  If you need more than 2 days you must contact us before May 14 2010 email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for details.  Early access to the playa is limited to those who need to be there and all early campers are required to pay an overnight camp fee ($5 per night per camper) directly to Bonneville Sea Base.
